I have an uncomfy question for any archaeologists out there

Where is the line between grave robbery and archaeology? How much time has to pass before you're not a criminal and you're just a history enthusiast? 😂😂😂

Uff. Good question. I think it's just grave robbery, however historians like to believe they are preserving things. Kinda like the British did with all of the places they colonized in their hay day. I mean, it's not like they can simply trust the dead to maintain their belongings. That would be silly. 😅

Not time, but rather a license and title of "Certified Grave Robber". (edited)

It's not just time but intention. China has historically had been the first grave raiders in ancient history. Way further back than the Arabs or the English.

If you are given permission to be on the land that you are excavating and you follow specific ethical and moral codes while you dig for sciences and understand, then you aren’t Robbing. However, unsanctioned digging is always a crime.
