I'm saddened by the amount of pseudoscience that goes around psychology in this app
With all due respect, but MBTI is not science, it is based on Jung studies (much of which is dated) and lacks scientific proof Like, I know that not everything is science, like psychoanalysis is not science but that doesn't take away its value, it just can't be deprived by the scientific method (I agree with Pavlov on this point) But hey, psychology is an area of science, and it is literally taken from people's lives, so it has to be more rigorous.

Yeah there's a reason psychology research only uses the big 5 test for studying personality differences. It's also pretty reductive but it at least doesn't claim to be able to explain the entirety of a person's personality but rather describes 5 spectrums of facets of personality that influence facets of our behaviour and perception. It recognised the complexity of personality and the infinite possibility of combinations of various parts of personality. MbTI instead claims to define your entire personality and that we're all somehow one of 14 options when it's far more complicated. Not to mention, a lot of what the descriptions given to each type consist of are barnum statements. So vague and broad that it could apply to anyone.

For me,as an ezoterist and pshychology enthusiast there are patterns and Archetypes.we cannot function outside them. Your vision might be correct,but simplist Look from above,observe the parterns- personalities. There,each one has it s own modulations and Manifestation.Simple :)

Psychoanalysis isn't science, but there is scientific evidence of positive results in some situations. Which is why it hasn't been completely abandoned. Just greatly reduced and supplemented with more evidence-based methods being preferred. The psychology part of this site is pop-psych at best, which isn't psych at all. I was hoping for somewhere where I could talk about my experimental psych methods and results, but this definitely isn't the place for that. And yes, MBTI isn't science and is easy to influence. It's not much better than a horoscope. But people relate to the commonalities, and this place is about relating. I wish I could do that so easily. Psychology is more rigorous. It's been coming out of its basic observational guesswork assumptions for decades.
