You are LOVED

Question

Until recently, I had a deep hatred of myself. It was so great that after many sessions, my psychiatrist tried to guide me with excercises to love myself. I broke down crying and couldn't accept I am loveable. I stopped going to therapy because it got to the point where she asked if I would like to take a diognosis and get prescribed medication to assist my mental health. Some amount of time later, I learned to love myself. How? As a Christian, I know Jesus died for me. A self-sacrifice out of love for the everyone, even the worst people imaginable. In order to accept the belief, you must accept the action. It's one thing to know Jesus loves me, it's another thing to accept that love. After a messy relationship I did some self-discovering. Why do I do what I do? Who am I? Etc, etc. You have to learn who you are at the base level. What makes you, you. Why you do stupid things, why you do good things, why you do bad things, why you do smart things. You might discover that those bad things you hate about yourself are driven by the good things inherit to your nature, integral to who you are. Love the good things, grow the good things and you'll began to love yourself for who you are instead of hating yourself for mistakes you've made. Sorry about rambling. Jesus loves you, I love you, now love yourself.

Devon, you are so loved and treasured by God. He left the 99 for you, knew you before you were born…before the very foundations of the universe were laid out. He chose you and all of mankind while knowing what it would cost him. He then knit you together and holds every cell in your body together. You are perfectly,  wonderfully and lovingly  made by God. Thank you for sharing your testimony with us!

Thanks for sharing your journey, Devon! God works in such amazing ways. No matter how dark and deep in a pit we get, His hand is always ready to pull us up and save us, we just need to be willing to accept His love. While that may not sound difficult, it very well can be when we're in such a dark place of self-hated and feel to give up. I love the part when you said "love the good things, grow the good things". I so needed to hear that, because it's easy to lose who we are and what we're good at when we're in such a dark place. 🙏
