Wedding in my country Zambia

Well am Zambian and a single parent of one. Am going to tell you what happens if one is getting married in my country Zambia. First a man has to take dowry in a metal plate and the amount you take it depends. Then if they accept, there is something we call kitchen party. So kitchen party is where the Bride might receive gifts she wants to have in her home e.g washing machine or new bed or the money as a gift. If ur having a kitchen party there are people who form something called "a committee" where members contribute an agreed amount to buy the bride those items she needs or they would gift her with money contributed , then she decides to buy whatever. From there, there is something called "chilanga mulilo" this is where the Bride cooks all Zambian dishes and takes them to the Groom home. The Groom has to be introduced to the different meals and he should taste them all . This custom shows the groom what he will be eating depending of the traditional of the bride. For example if a Zambia married a foreign she has to make him taste those meals cause she might cook them one day and he or she must not be puzzled 😂. But don't worry we don't eat snakes Then we have the wedding which can be traditional or white wedding. So at times people want to have both traditional and white wedding depending on ones Budget and of cause if you do a traditional wedding u will wear traditiona outfits l and if it's a white wedding you will be in your white wedding dress or like Cinderella. 😂 (edited)
